Jharsuguda Municipality Scam: Chairman Rani Hati Summoned By Vigilance Over Rs 40 Lakh Fund Misappropriation

JHARSUGUDA- A massive political storm has erupted in the Jharsuguda Municipality following severe allegations of Rs 40 lakh financial misappropriation, leading the Odisha Vigilance Department to summon the civic body’s top leadership. The anti-corruption wing has served an urgent legal notice to the current Jharsuguda Municipality Chairman, Rani Hati, ordering her to appear in person for intense questioning on September 8, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Jharsuguda Vigilance Unit office.

The investigation centers on the alleged embezzlement and redirection of government funds worth Rs 40 lakh allocated during the financial years 2023–24 and 2024–25. Issued by DSP Kalabati Bagh under Notice No. 682/2026, the summons originates from the high-level Rourkela Vigilance File No. 2/2026. vigilance officials have treated this case with high priority, indicating that multiple municipal officers and administrative insiders are currently under the scanner and the upcoming face-to-face interrogation on September 8 is expected to reveal deep-rooted administrative lapses and clarify the exact routing of the missing public funds.
