# DUSU Election Results: ABVP’s Dominance Signals Gen Z’s Continued Mandate for PM Modi and BJP

**NEW DELHI:** The results of the Delhi University Students’ Union ([DUSU](https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAES2wEB6zswFYgjZDG9aEWMrvyZ8oFmx2bFhaQAN6KHX-W5KbQk-vQw3GNha9Jf9Zy_Yhq74oCn9mT-jlzNVMcfqFPmDl1z-Ey3eQTIUiDEqpwykyCLALWRxFaOh_c0y9DcDj9yzQ069AEPqBv5_DYxhOHktG1jzyMSCyVC4CrHT6NLZZ8MCa75yZTQq3wGjLJPL9uaDC5KPG0ybvwsmc7o3-8mmcbZDsmzq3H0MEx9fW22fjQJiiboK_S4kxbdWFgjfkjXC-38DVreC5bmv0B__6gJIBiuYoQ6tl1fkN8)) election announced on Saturday have delivered a clear message about Gen Z's political alignment. Defying claims that India's youth are moving away from the ruling party, the **RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP)** captured three out of four central panel positions, signaling a strong, continued preference for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among the student community. In a tightly contested battle for the presidency, **ABVP’s Yash Dabas** emerged victorious after securing **24,576 votes**. Dabas successfully defeated the Congress-backed National Students' Union of India ([NSUI](https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESxQEB6zswFRH81lVHpbavA6MDnxA_waNaAb-S825jV3RmNTWiY-3-WTb84O-7-rpMFzlcGn4SP_GTNgLmE-AX3dK5Ka8HdI39T-XWoZ2J7xjGTDPb8U3KXtl2L5V-mDpYwj62rJ5xdhz9PvjkGYmbxHvlsNS37haKWBPcl8ukUw5Ge7f6MBN0nbtiPTvnTRycRRRSGme2xntU4kgTPRzpUnaMwx61S7uGw67WCCVstE9KPPAbS5H0d70NIpNs2eliAdRhFBS1yQ)) candidate, Vijay Shankar Meena, who finished as the runner-up with 22,523 votes. Left Alliance candidate Anaya Raturi finished a distant third with 5,377 votes, followed by ASAP's Ashmit Kumar at 1,388 votes. Other presidential hopefuls Sameer Kumar, Ejaz Mansoori, and Samarth Beniwal secured 1,115, 837, and 819 votes, respectively.

The vice-presidential seat witnessed a dramatic victory for **independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen**, a rebel candidate from the NSUI who ran independently after being denied a party ticket. Shokeen emerged as the highest vote-getter across all four central panel posts, commanding a massive **30,615 votes**. He comfortably outpaced ABVP’s Issu Maurya, who secured 16,910 votes. The official NSUI nominee, Veer Chhatrath, lagged behind significantly with just 4,313 votes, while Left alliance candidates Akshat Shikhar and Aranya Singh Rathore polled 2,383 and 2,274 votes.

Further cementing their dominance on campus, **ABVP’s Riya Chhavri** captured the Secretary post with **21,650 votes**, dealing another blow to NSUI's Namrata Chaudhary, who managed 14,869 votes. Left Alliance contender Stanzin Deskyong finished third with 8,734 votes. Complete with the Joint Secretary seat going to ABVP's Lakshya Raj Singh, the final tally leaves the opposition-backed student wings completely out of the core leadership, providing a loud, statistical reminder that Gen Z's mainstream still stands firmly with the BJP's broader national vision.
