# Landslide in Koraput: High-Voltage Tower Collapses Near Maliguda, Paralysing Train Services

The incident, triggered by heavy rainfall and gale-force winds under the influence of a deep depression, led to severe structural damage to the regional railway infrastructure.

Saturated soil and relentless winds caused the massive electricity tower to buckle and topple directly onto the railway corridor. The line was managed by the **Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL)** and In addition to the tower collapse, landslides hit multiple points along the stretch between fed power to the railway network and **Maliguda and Chhatriput**. Approximately 50 metres of the rail track section was buried under mud and debris, resulting in track subsidence.

Train communication between Jeypore and Koraput came to a complete halt. No casualties have been reported from the site.
