# Odisha on High Alert: CM Mohan Majhi Reviews Cyclone Preparedness;

**Leaves Cancelled**

**Schools Closed**

**205 Fire Teams Deployed**

**Bhubaneswar:** Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high-level review meeting to finalize Odisha's emergency response for an impending cyclone brewing over the Bay of Bengal.

With a well-marked low-pressure area threatening the coastal state, the government has **cancelled leaves for all district collectors and critical officers**, ordering them to remain at their headquarters to oversee emergency operations.

Extensive Safety Measures Implemented Across Odisha:

- **Mass Evacuation Preparations:** Disaster shelter homes have been fully readied across vulnerable zones, including 84 specialized shelters activated in the Rayagada district alone.

- **First Responders Mobilized:** A total of 205 Odisha Fire Services teams have been strategically deployed to low-lying and high-risk pockets for rapid rescue and road-clearance operations.

- **Urban Hazard Mitigation:** Authorities have ordered the immediate removal of all remaining Durga Puja arches and unstable commercial hoardings to prevent high-wind hazards.

- **Educational Institutions Closed:** All schools and colleges in the projected affected districts will remain closed, with official holidays declared for October 28 and 29.

Chief Minister Majhi reiterated the state's "zero casualty" objective, instructing administrators to ensure smooth coordination and swift evacuation of citizens from vulnerable coastal and low-lying terrains.
