# PM Modi Inaugurates RBI’s Data Centre and Cybersecurity Institute

BHUBANESWAR — Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new greenfield Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley-II in Jatni, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Built at an estimated cost of ₹169 crore to ₹170 crore, the state-of-the-art facility is designed to significantly enhance the resilience, security, and computing capacity of India's rapidly expanding digital financial ecosystem.

Spanning across 18.55 acres of land, the critical infrastructure has achieved the prestigious Uptime Institute's Tier IV certification, representing the highest benchmark for data centre reliability and fault tolerance. The facility will serve as a crucial secondary backup to the RBI’s primary data centre located in Navi Mumbai, ensuring the security of mission-critical payment and settlement systems.

In addition to safeguarding critical financial infrastructure from cybercriminals and cyberterrorists, the co-located Cybersecurity Training Institute will function as a dedicated hub for advanced research and capacity building. The institute will focus on training specialized personnel in emerging technologies and modern paradigms, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Computing, and enterprise computing.

Highlighting the project's broader significance, the Prime Minister noted that the facility aligns with the vision of 'Viksit Bharat'. He emphasized that eastern states like Odisha are undergoing a rapid economic transition, shifting away from traditional mineral-based industries toward advanced technological sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, and computing.
