# BJP Slams BJD Over Vidhansabha Session Duration; Cites 10-Year Record

**Jharsuguda:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the duration of the upcoming Vidhansabha winter session, accusing the opposition party of political hypocrisy.

Responding to BJD's allegations that the ruling BJP is avoiding running the assembly for the mandated 60 days a year, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathi advised the regional party to "look in the mirror" before pointing fingers. Tripathi released a detailed year-by-year account of the assembly's functioning during the BJD's 24-year rule, highlighting that the previous government failed to meet the 60-day benchmark even once in the last decade.

According to the data presented by the BJP MLA, the Vidhansabha sat for 48 days in 2014, 52 days in 2015, 45 days in 2016, 47 days in 2017, 42 days in 2018, 43 days in 2019, 30 days in 2020, 43 days in 2021, 35 days in 2022, and 34 days in 2023.

"In not a single year out of those 10 years did the BJD run the session for the full 60 days," Tripathi stated, contrasting it with the current administration's record of 42 days in 2024, 43 days in 2025, and 28 days already completed this year ahead of the winter session.

Lashing out at the opposition's conduct, the lawmaker added that by disrupting Question Hour and evading debates, the BJD is signaling a lack of faith in democratic traditions, choosing instead to lean into "familyism." He concluded with a sharp reminder that the people of Odisha are closely observing the political maneuvering ahead of the winter session scheduled to begin on November 18.
