# DCM Pravati Parida Calls Upon People to Light Lamps in Every Household on September 17 from 6 PM to 7 PM

**Bhubaneswar**- Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida today appealed to the people of the state to **light lamps in every household on 17 September from 6 PM to 7 PM**. The unique initiative marks the **successful completion of two years of the state government’s flagship SUBHADRA Scheme**. Speaking at a press conference at the Lok Seva Bhawan, Parida—who also heads the Departments of Women & Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism—urged citizens to observe the day as a celebration of women’s empowerment, dignity, and self-reliance.

Highlighting the landmark achievements of the initiative over the past two years, the Deputy Chief Minister revealed that the government has successfully transferred **₹25,800 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 1.03 crore women beneficiaries** across five instalments.

The economic impact of the scheme has been highly significant. Joint assessments by IIM Sambalpur, the State Bank of India (SBI), and NITI Aayog reveal that **more than 26% of women in Odisha have transitioned into self-reliant entrepreneurs** because of the financial backing provided by the SUBHADRA Scheme.

To commemorate this milestone, the state has lined up extensive grassroot celebrations:

- **Cultural Events**: Rangoli competitions and special celebrations will take place across all Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) projects, Anganwadi Centres, and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) offices statewide.

- **A Vision for Health**: Parida reiterated the Department of Women & Child Development's unwavering commitment to achieving a 100% malnutrition-free Odisha through the ongoing Poshan Abhiyan, aiming to build a "Nourished and Developed Odisha."

The Deputy Chief Minister concluded her address by calling upon every citizen to participate in the lamp-lighting hour tomorrow evening, turning the state's collective celebration into a powerful symbol of respect for Nari Shakti
