# Families of Loco Pilots Stage Massive Protest at Brajrajnagar Station Over Long Working Hours

**BRAJRAJNAGAR** – Turning Platform No. 1 of the Brajrajnagar Railway Station into a site of active demonstration, the families of railway loco pilots stepped out in full force on Wednesday. Organised by the Brajrajnagar branch of the **All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA)**, the protest saw railway employees standing shoulder-to-shoulder with their spouses, children, and relatives to aggressively voice their grievances against grueling duty schedules and systemic neglect of their well-being. Demonstrators raised high-pitched slogans and marched across the platform displaying placards that highlighted the punishing routines forced upon train drivers. The protestors put forward three critical demands: a significant reduction in continuous working hours, the implementation of mandatory and adequate rest intervals, and ironclad safeguards ensuring the physical and mental health of the loco pilots.

Following the demonstration, a high-level delegation led by AILRSA Branch President **Md. Firoz Alam** and Secretary **Jagannath Kumar** met with local railway authorities to submit a formal memorandum detailing their grievances. "Continuous long-duration shifts and unpredictable night duties are pushing our loco pilots to their absolute physical and mental limits," the association leadership stated. They warned that the current working conditions compromise not only the health of the staff but also operational safety.

To resolve the crisis, the AILRSA has demanded that the railway administration immediately cap the maximum duration of duty periods, guarantee undisturbed rest cycles, and initiate a prompt recruitment drive to fill the massive volume of vacant posts that are currently driving the staff shortage. Railway officials have received the memorandum, though an official response regarding concrete remedial action is still awaited.
