The viral narrative surfaced following severe waterlogging and flood-like situations in Patnaik\u2019s home constituency of Hinjili, Ganjam, which was hit heavily by torrential rains triggered by Cyclone Arnab. Local residents and political critics began circulating posts and mock “missing” notices online, raising sharp questions about the former Chief Minister’s absence and lack of ground response during the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Critics are pointing out a stark shift in political accountability. For over two decades, Patnaik rarely visited his constituency frequently, a habit that was politically overlooked while his government held power and state machinery efficiently managed local affairs. However, with the BJP now forming the government in Odisha, local voters who re-elected Patnaik are demanding direct accountability from their sitting MLA during a severe humanitarian crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ganjam district bore the brunt of Cyclone Arnab’s destructive path, facing catastrophic flooding and infrastructure damage.
