# Jharsuguda National Lok Adalat Settles Over 4,000 Cases; Over ₹5.36 Crore Awarded

**JHARSUGUDA:** Following the directives of the **National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)** and the **Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA), Cuttack**, the third **National Lok Adalat** of the year was successfully conducted on Saturday at the **Jharsuguda District Court** and **Lakhanpur Court** premises. The mega event was presided over by **Mr. Prashant Kumar Nayak**, District & Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).The Lok Adalat achieved massive success, resolving **4,121 cases** across pending and pre-litigation categories through mutual and amicable settlements.

A total of 13 separate Lok Adalat benches were constituted to process the long-pending litigations. Key settlements included:

- **Civil Cases:** 14 disputes were resolved for a whopping **₹3,59,40,327.08**.

- **Motor Accident Claims (MACT):** 8 cases were settled, with insurance companies ordered to pay **₹53,50,000** in compensation.

- **Labour Disputes:** 3 cases were settled for **₹37,30,767**.

- **Cheque Bounce Cases:** 16 cases under Section 138 of the NI Act were closed for **₹10,33,461**.

- **Revenue Cases:** A massive **3,194 revenue cases** were cleared, drawing a settlement of **₹3,24,810**.
**Criminal & Miscellaneous Matters:** 607 petty criminal cases, 9 compoundable criminal cases, 1 money recovery case, and 1 matrimonial/family dispute (excluding divorce) were successfully resolved.

The benches also provided quick relief in pre-litigation matters, avoiding lengthy future trials:

- **Bank Loans:** 90 loan-related cases settled for **₹48,48,456**.

- **Electricity Bills:** 138 Tata Power disputes resolved for **₹12,64,495**.

- **Public Utilities:** 16 cases before the Permanent Lok Adalat for Public Utility Services fetched **₹11,34,337**.

- **Traffic & Others:** 20 traffic challans (**₹65,500**), 2 BSNL telephone bill cases (**₹2,124**), and 1 miscellaneous civil case were cleared.

The administrative operations were seamless, overseen by Chief Judicial Magistrate DLSA Secretary and Civil Court Registrar and others actively assisted the benches in ensuring swift legal relief to citizens.
