# Major Rail Boost for Jharsuguda: Central Government Greenlights Massive Multi-Tracking Project

JHARSUGUDA: In a major boost to regional connectivity and industrial logistics, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved three multi-tracking railway projects with a combined** investment of ₹10,783 crore**.Central to this mega infrastructure push is the approval of the 367-kilometer Kharagpur-Jharsuguda (Bagdehi) fourth railway line, a project valued at approximately **₹6,528 crore**.

According to official government statements, the expansion is projected to yield massive socio-economic and logistical dividends:

- **Capacity Enhancement:** The projects will add an extra freight transportation capacity of approximately 27 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA).

- **Employment Generation:** The construction phase is expected to generate 125 lakh man-days of employment.

- **Cost Efficiency:** The streamlined infrastructure will result in annual transportation cost savings exceeding ₹967 crore.

- **Rural Outreach:** Improved connectivity will directly benefit roughly 4,790 villages and a population of over 56 lakh people.

Welcoming the decision, **Bargarh MP Pradip Purohit** expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Purohit highlighted that the strategic move would drastically strengthen the region's rail infrastructure, stimulate local trade, and contribute to environmental sustainability by moving more freight from roads to eco-friendly rail corridors.

The project aligns with the government’s long-term vision to foster aggressive industrial growth, boost regional employment, and optimize heavy-haul freight corridors across eastern India.
