# Odisha DGP Binayatosh Mishra Reviews Northern Range Security; Identifies Cybercrime and Drugs as Top Priorities

**SAMBALPUR:** Odisha's interim Director General of Police (DGP), **Binayatosh Mishra**, conducted a high-level security and law-and-order review meeting at the Northern Range DIG office on saturday. The meeting was attended by the Superintendents of Police (SPs) from five key districts under the Northern Range—**Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Subarnapur, and Balangir**. The discussions primarily focused on stepping up crime control, reviewing security preparations for the upcoming festive season, and strengthening overall police operations across the region.

Briefing the media after the meeting, DGP Mishra announced that the state police have identified **cybercrime control** and achieving a **drug-free Odisha** as their top operational priorities. "Special emphasis is being laid on raising public awareness against cyber fraud and ensuring meticulous investigation of cybercrime cases," Mishra stated. To support this, the review outlined plans to upgrade the technical skills of police personnel stationed at specialized cyber police stations, as well as officers handling cases at regular police stations. The DGP assured that the Police Headquarters will provide all necessary resources and administrative support to the districts to bridge infrastructure gaps.

In line with the state’s mission for a "Nasha Mukt Odisha" (Drug-Free Odisha), the DGP led detailed strategic discussions on choking the supply chains of illegal narcotics. The police administration will aggressively target the cross-district transportation and sale of illicit cough syrup and cannabis (ganja), reinforcing strict enforcement across all five districts. Additionally, with major regional and national festivals around the corner, DGP Mishra thoroughly inspected security frameworks. He instructed the district SPs to establish seamless inter-district coordination, heighten active patrolling, and execute robust crime prevention strategies to ensure peaceful celebrations
