# ODISHA GOVT RELEASES REVISED MUNICIPAL ELECTION TIMELINE; DRAFT NOTIFICATION OUT ON SEPT 24

**BHUBANESWAR** — The Housing and Urban Development Department has officially issued a **revised schedule** for the ward delimitation and seat reservation processes ahead of the upcoming general elections for Municipal Councils, NACs, and Municipal Corporations across Odisha.State authorities have directed concerned District Collectors and Municipal Corporation Commissioners to ensure the smooth completion of the entire process within the newly stipulated timeframes.

The standard procedure for the state's Municipal Councils and Notified Area Councils (NACs) will roll out over the next several weeks, culminating at the end of next month:

- **September 24:** Publication of the draft notification.

- **October 3:** Deadline for citizens to submit objections and suggestions.

- **October 7:** Publication of the preliminary notification.

- **October 21:** Final date to file formal appeals.

- **October 26 – 28:** Hearings and decisions regarding the filed appeals.

- **October 31, 2026:** Publication of the definitive final notification concerning ward delimitation and seat reservation.

A separate, shifted timeline has been fixed specifically for the major urban hubs of **Bhubaneswar**, **Cuttack**, **Brahmapur**, and **Rourkela**. The process for these major municipal corporations will run slightly later:

- **October 5:** Publication of the draft notification regarding proposed ward delimitation and seat reservations.

- **October 14:** Deadline for the public to submit objections and suggestions.
