**BHUBANESWAR:** State-run energy giant Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has made a significant natural gas discovery in a deepwater block off India’s eastern coast.

According to official statements from the state-run explorer, the breakthrough occurred in a deepwater well situated in the Bay of Bengal. The proximity of the discovery to the Odisha coastline is expected to play a critical role in its future production timeline.
