CAMPUS UNREST: Student Union Elections Cancelled Across Odisha Colleges, Rajendra University and LN Collage Jharsuguda Shut Ahead of Oct 15 Polls

Jharsuguda– Just some hours before Odisha’s highly anticipated student union elections, democratic campus polling has faced severe disruption as widespread cancellations and indefinite closures roll through multiple higher education institutions across the state. In a dramatic escalation of campus tension,LN collage Jharsuguda and Rajendra University in Balagir became the latest major institution to officially call off its elections due to significant law-and-order concerns.

The state-wide polls, originally scheduled to make a historic return on October 15, 2026, after an eight-year hiatus under the previous BJD government, have encountered intense friction, leading to campus closures and sine die declarations across several key districts

The decision in Balangir mirrors a growing list of institutions across Odisha pulling the plug on campus democracy due to rising violence, crude bomb blasts, and controversial nomination rejections
