NEW DELHI: In a striking departure from his daily political duties, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs and Sundargarh MP Jual Oram surprised audiences by performing on stage as ‘Nishad Raj‘ at the prestigious Luv-Kush Ramlila held at Delhi’s historic Red Fort grounds.
Dressed in elaborate traditional attire complete with a crown adorned with peacock feathers, a necklace of cowrie shells, and carrying a bow and arrow, Union Minister portrayed the King of Shringaverapura, a close and loyal friend to Lord Ram.
Audience Captivated by Emotional Performance
The auditorium erupted with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as Oram stepped onto the stage. Observers noted that the Minister delivered his lines with the poise of a seasoned professional. The emotional high point of the performance was the enactment of the exile sequence, depicting the deeply affectionate embrace between Lord Ram and the Nishada King.
A ‘Unique Spiritual Experience’
Reflecting on his theatrical debut, Minister Jual Oram expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to step out of his political persona.
“It is a matter of great fortune for me to have portrayed the role of Nishad Raj on stage, rather than appearing as a Minister,” Oram stated. “The character embodies a noble tradition within Indian culture, one that places the highest value on friendship and human principles. Performing such an inspiring role in this historic Ramlila was a deeply moving, honourable, and unique spiritual experience for me.”
Social Media Buzz
Photographs and video clips of the Minister’s performance have rapidly gone viral across social media platforms. The performance has drawn widespread praise from both the public and political circles, with many commending Oram’s dedication to preserving and celebrating cultural heritage.
